Former student Kiana took many lessons from her time at New Outlook, but the most important ones were discipline and structure.
Since leaving in 2017, she has pursued her dream of working in emergency services. Today, she serves as a 911 dispatcher, answering the call 
day 
or night 
—all while studying criminal justice 
and forensics 
at Strayer University.
Following her graduation in 2027
, she plans to enter the police academy
. Her commitment to public safety is inspiring and heart warming.
Beyond her professional goals, Kiana is most proud of becoming a mother to her adorable daughter, Haven 
, and celebrating her continued sobriety.
To current and former students, Kiana offers these words of encouragement:

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and join us for a special community celebration, with fireworks generously donated & coordinated by Zambelli Fireworks.

Lawn opens at 7 PM | Fireworks at 8 PM
New Outlook Academy’s Front Lawn- 900 Agnew Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15227
Music will be bumping leading up to the event.
Free water bottles & popcorn provided by local donors.
Meet your local Baldwin Police and Pittsburgh Fire (with a fire engine on site!).
Food trucks may also be available for refreshments for purchase.
Note- Please keep your pets at home.
This event is FREE & open to the community—we’d love to see our local neighbors, partners, and friends join us for a night of fun and celebration.

Our Compliance Coordinator, Cindy, stepped out of the office
and into the kitchen 
for a few hours, volunteering to cook up a good time with our students.
Students rolled up their sleeves and got to work, learning how to make ricotta gnocchi with a lemon
sage brown butter sauce from scratch. Complimenting the entrée was a fresh salad 
with toppings provided from the student gardens 
Their hard work from farm to kitchen came full circle when students got to taste their homemade food. Fun and full bellies were had by all.
We’re grateful to U.S. Department of Agriculture and Penn State for providing partial funding of this experience through the PA Harvest of the Month grant as well as Whole Kids for their funding of our school’s gardens that are providing fresh produce for fresh experiences in the kitchen.
