SUMMER SCHOOL – LEARNING AND GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY!

Throughout the first half of summer school, students had the opportunity to perform community service. They created blankets for babies in the NICU, made care packages for the homeless, built Little Free Libraries for the community and much more! Thanks to our awesome community for supporting our students and to the students for embracing our community by contributing their time and talents!

CGI I.T. Girl Challenge Young ladies from New Outlook Academy are once again competing in the CGI I.T. Girl Challenge. This application creation competition is sponsored by CGI and Carnegie Mellon University. This year the girls have decided to build an app that relates to mental health well-being called Love & Wellness. Listening to the team strategize their plan and creative goals has been very exciting. Using concepts they have learned here at New Outlook, the girls intend to create a “chat room” where users can login to connect with peers and support providers in a virtual group therapy setting. The app will also include journaling options, health trackers, and different guided mediation tools. We are looking forward to watching the development over the next four weeks. Good luck to Deyoniah S. and Ava S, (both York County)
