New Academy Charter School administrators,
The Summit Academy drumline warms up before a final home game of the boys basketball season. Thanks to A.K. and these young men for contributing their talent and enthusiasm to supporting the team all season! Let’s go Knights!!
New Outlook Academy students are volunteering their time and talents, crocheting Joey Pouches that will be collected and sent to Australia to contribute to relief efforts from recent devastating fires. Joey Pouches are designed to keep baby Kangaroos alive when they cannot live in their mother's pouch. Ashant'e L (Westmoreland Co) and Haleigh S. (Erie) are just a few of our students who are working on the project.

Summit Academy students and staff had an amazing opportunity to hear from two inspiring men who spoke about overcoming obstacles in life to achieve success and happiness!
Denny Lane, who grew up in the foster care system, spoke about personal challenges and how mentors in his life inspired and believed in him when he did not believe in himself. He credits them with contributing to his accomplishments as a successful businessman today.
Bruce Baumgartner, one of the most accomplished wrestlers of all time with 4 Olympic and 9 world championship medals, spoke about what it took to elevate his athletic skills from average to extraordinary. He challenged Summit Academy students to find their passion and never give up. He also shared his four rules to success:
1. Set your goals, and set them high.
2. Surround yourself with people who can get you there.
3. Take care of your mind and body.
4. Do your best.
Thank you Denny and Bruce for your time and inspiration. Exceptional day to be a Knight. #Uknighted
New Academy Charter School recently hosted their annual Arlington community spaghetti dinner. It was a tremendous evening with over 100 people attending the largest event yet!
Miss Marcella’s Chemistry class is learning about the elements that comprise the periodic table. As part of the lesson, the students selected a specific element and designed posters that include facts, properties and the elements chemical symbol. Well done!!
Congratulations
New Outlook Academy students enjoyed a day of ice skating at PPG and then enjoyed the view of the city from the Mt. Washington Overlook! The mild winter weather is affording wonderful opportunities to enjoy lots of fun Pittsburgh experiences.
