The group truly loved this book and all the emotions that came with learning about the struggles of those persecuted in Nazi Germany… some for their ethnicity and others for their convictions. Raelynn A. offered her profound thoughts on what she learned when she shared, “Our life is one proverbial coin toss. You can either live or exist. Choose.” Many characters in the book chose living over existing, even with perilous consequences.Well done, ladies. The next book club group is already being selected…. can’t wait to see what we will read next!!

The members of the New Outlook Book Club have begun their next literary adventure. This time the group is reading The Book Thief, which is a historical fiction novel by the Australian author Markus Zusak, set in Nazi Germany during World War II. This critically acclaimed book won international awards and was eventually made into a major motion picture which the girls will look forward to seeing at the conclusion of the book study.

We are so thankful for the donation from the W.I. Patterson Charitable Fund in support of our student Prosocial Fund. This valuable resource provides opportunities for students to earn employability certifications such as ServSafe. The fund also provides supplies for activities that celebrate our students for the accomplishments and milestones they achieve here at New Outlook.
The following students recently completed their participation in the New Outlook Book Club reading of R.J. Palacio’s amazing book “Wonder” which inspired the “Choose Kind” movement.
To celebrate the end of the book, the group enjoyed watching the movie version together.
