CREATIVE SCIENCE Miss Marcella's biology students are learning about how fossils provide change in organisms over time. The students were asked to create an organism that they wish could have existed in history. Requirements for the project included naming the organism, drawing what it would have looked like alive, drawing it as a fossil, and identifying where it would have lived and its diet. They also had to give a short description of their organism. Omar M. (Montgomery Co.) and Antonio E. (Philadelphia) proudly display their posters! Summit students bringing biology to life…

Since the average annual snowfall in their hometowns is under three inches, Lewis H. (Sacramento, CA) and Nathan C. (El Paso, TX) were thrilled to enjoy a day of snow and sledding in western Pennsylvania. Growing through new experiences every day. #Uknighted

After the match, University of Pittsburgh head wrestling coach, Keith Gavin, took the time to speak to the students about what it takes to be a college wrestler. Coach Gavin also gave them a tour of the wrestling facility!

The Summit Academy drumline warms up before a final home game of the boys basketball season. Thanks to A.K. and these young men for contributing their talent and enthusiasm to supporting the team all season! Let’s go Knights!!
Summit Academy students and staff had an amazing opportunity to hear from two inspiring men who spoke about overcoming obstacles in life to achieve success and happiness!
Denny Lane, who grew up in the foster care system, spoke about personal challenges and how mentors in his life inspired and believed in him when he did not believe in himself. He credits them with contributing to his accomplishments as a successful businessman today.
Bruce Baumgartner, one of the most accomplished wrestlers of all time with 4 Olympic and 9 world championship medals, spoke about what it took to elevate his athletic skills from average to extraordinary. He challenged Summit Academy students to find their passion and never give up. He also shared his four rules to success: 1. Set your goals, and set them high. 2. Surround yourself with people who can get you there. 3. Take care of your mind and body. 4. Do your best.
Thank you Denny and Bruce for your time and inspiration. Exceptional day to be a Knight. #Uknighted
