Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, is celebrated every February in the United States. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize those who have contributed to and achieved so much for freedom and equality while also celebrating the beauty and history of African American culture.

WRESTLING… PERFECTED BY GIRLS!!!
Last Saturday, Gabby C. attended the Pittsburgh Girls Youth Wrestling Competition hosted by Mt. Lebanon Youth Wrestling. 97 young women competed in the 2nd annual all-female wrestling event.
Gabby won her first match by a major decision of 15-4 and pinned her next two opponents. Gabby did lose her final match after a great effort but demonstrated sportsmanship throughout the day.
Way to go, Gabby, and we agree… #SanctionGirlsWrestling
WOMEN IN HISTORY MURAL
New Outlook students are participating in the creation of a life-size mural of significant women in history, designed by Art Teacher Ms. Tucker. The completed artwork will decorate the school hallway to inspire students for years to come.
We look forward to watching them reveal the identity of each famous woman as the students contribute their time and talent to completing the mural.
Last week’s Christmas Performance was delayed by all the nasty weather. But today, the students and staff alike showed we all still have the holiday spirit as students played and sang carols for all to enjoy.
The holiday season at New Outlook Academy was best summarized by Sam’iia’s original poem that she read to open the show. May we all remember the true value of Christmas “presence.”

We have the most amazing staff in the business. They appreciate nothing more than hearing that the love and effort they pour into their work truly make a difference. Thanks to this wonderful young lady for taking the time to share her gratitude this holiday season. #UKnighted
