Students in Ms. George's Science class had the opportunity to experiment with extracting DNA from strawberries. Students added water, salt and dish soap to smashed strawberries to break up the cells and release the DNA. Filtering out the chunks of strawberries isolated the liquid. They then added rubbing alcohol which caused the DNA to become visible. Students were then able to pull out and handle the exposed DNA. Bill Nye the Science Guy has nothing on New Outlook Academy!!!

New Outlook Academy hosted a Creative Expression contest on campus recently. The theme of the event was "Using Your Strengths to Overcome Your Challenges." The students created posters and wrote essays and some of their works were selected for submission to the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges Commission Conference Poster and Essay Contests. All of the projects were incredibly inspiring and award-winning in our opinion. Congrats to all of our artists.
