An important component of Summit’s Music Program is what they are learning about music history and influential people in the industry. We recently finished lessons about Les Paul’s important role in creating the solid-body electric guitar and his impact on the modern-day recording studio. Students created a timeline of his life and completed word searches about him.

So proud to announce that three of our amazing students have had their “Healing Through Color” art projects selected for the Pennsylvania Art Education Association’s Youth Art Month Exhibit of 2025 Their creativity and talent are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see their artwork displayed for everyone to enjoy. Congratulations on this incredible achievement – you’re all artists in the making!
After lots of hard work and positive performance, this group of students took to the ice for some well-deserved fun and laughter.
We are so proud of their progress, both in the classroom and on the rink! Keep up the great work, ladies!!

When it just won’t stop snowing, what else is there to do but grab a sled and slide into some fun.
For some students, winter in Butler is their first experience with snow, while others are toboggan pros. But everyone had a great time.
Big shout out to Diehl Automotive of Butler for donating a 2003 Chevy Impala to Summit Academy’s Vocational Program! The donation allows students in our Automotive Repair and Auto Detailing Programs to gain real-world experience learning industry skills to improve their employability skills.
Summit Academy received a generous grant from the Les Paul Foundation for our school’s music studio, which is scheduled to open in 2025! The studio will provide a place for students to create and record music while also learning the fundamentals of the music technology industry in which Les Paul was so monumental. More information on the Foundation and their impact can be found at www.les-paul.com

Isabelle S. has been learning and practicing on the school’s electric bass guitar since it was donated in February 2024. Nearing her graduation and departure from New Outlook, Free Guitars 4 Kids made her dream of owning a bass guitar come true. Free Guitars 4 Kids gifted Isabelle an electric bass guitar with an amp and the other necessary accessories to practice. “I’m praying it’s an instrument,” she said, unwrapping it excitedly. Upon revealing it was a complete Fender kit, she said, “I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy before.” This gift will continue to give to everyone who listens to Isabelle play.
