The Knights’ Council enjoyed a recent visit to the Keystone Safari where they spent the day petting and feeding lots of unique and interesting animals.
2 years into New Outlook’s reading journey, students rounded out year two with teenage romance novel, “The Sun is Also a Star.” Next one on the books will be “Perks of being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky. #nicolayoon

The Knights’ Council is made up of students who demonstrate exceptional behavior and leadership.
Recently, members of the Knights’ Council enjoyed a couple of fun fieldtrips, including a visit to Eracers to complete a round of mini golf!!

Thanks to the Whole Kids Market Foundation, the vegetable plants in our raised garden beds are already producing. Students began harvesting the first fruits of their labor last week. #wholekidsmarketfoundation#gardening#healthyliving
The colors in his work “gave characteristics for the paintings he did and the meanings behind it,”-A.
The favorite part of A.’s visit were the animals Warhol painted in his Endangered Species series, specifically the tiger print. The colors “gave off jungle vibes, like it was hunting for food. That kind of character.”
Aside from the vibrant colors Warhol is so well known for, students received an interactive, guided visit through the Warhol, touching on his art installations, pop art, and screen printing techniques. This was all funded through a generous scholarship provided by The Andy Warhol Museum.
They “showed us how he created all the things he does with his art. It kinda makes me wanna do it. I’m inspired,” -A.

“Once the mic. is in his hand, his stutter goes away. It’s very inspirational.”- B. “I don’t stutter, but I understand having road blocks for what you want to do in life.”
Meeting Joe Klimchak, the in-game host for the Pittsburgh Pirates and motivational speaker, was the highlight of the whole day for B. Joe was a down-to-Earth, inspirational role model for B, a student who has faced many obstacles in her own pursuit for success.
New Outlook’s visit to the stadium provided a once in a lifetime opportunity through a generous joint effort between Tickets for Kids Charities and Pittsburgh Pirates. The game-changing day included visiting the Pirates’ dugout, walking on the field, touring the announcer box and editing booth, ice cream, and meeting and receiving a shoutout on the big screen from Joe Klimchak.
Prior to coming to New Outlook, B had never been to a live, professional athletic game before. The day was so enjoyable, she said, “I wish I could redo it.”
