Thank you to American Eagle staff members who volunteered to restore the The Academy Charter School’s courtyard and school entrances. We appreciate their time and talents and look forward to completing future projects at the school.
On June 7, The Academy Charter School celebrated graduation for the Class of 2018. Family, friends, and faculty gathered to honor these young men and women for their wonderful academic achievements. The graduates heard an inspiring message from The Academy Charter School Executive Director, Bill Styche before receiving their diplomas. Following the ceremony, the students joined their loved ones for a dinner reception hosted by The Summit Academy Food Service Department. We are so proud of the Class of 2018, and we wish them luck as their pursue their dreams.
The New Academy Charter School visited the Job Corps facility in Charleston, West Virginia for a tour of their programs. Our students were interested in the carpentry and business administration programs. They were able to tour the dormitories, cafeteria, trade and academic programs. New Academy Charter School is on a mission to continue positive, post-high school transitions through our continued partnership with Job Corps.
New Academy Charter School recently hosted Employment Representatives
A group of soon-to-be graduates from New Academy Charter recently toured Community College of Allegheny County to learn about potential academic opportunities for the fall. Two of our students are interested in pursuing nursing degrees while another is looking forward to a career in culinary arts. Although the remaining students are undecided about their majors, all of the students enjoyed their experience at the school. EDUCATION – it's your ticket to ride in life!
Recently a group of students participated in an experiential visit to the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh. Run by professional leaders in trade industries, counseling, business, and economic development, the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh offers a ‘hand up, not a hand out’ for individuals looking to create exceptional careers and life opportunities. Our students learned the fundamentals of various construction trades and discussed how acquiring these skills could enable them to create a self-sufficient, productive life. TIP offers an intensive ten-week, education program that our students can now consider as they plan their future academic and career opportunities.
