Congratulations to New Academy Charter School on their 1-year anniversary.

Students once again visited the Wrapped in Love Program to continue crocheting squares for the blankets that will be assembled and donated to area hospitals to provide comfort for patients recovering from serious illness. Proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization whose mission is “blanketing the world with hope.”

New Academy Charter School recently recognized 16 students for making the honor roll and/or achieving perfect attendance for the month of January. Congratulations to these students… keep up the good work!!!

A group students recently volunteered with the Wrapped in Love Program. This organization consists of women who get together weekly to crochet blankets and hats for people who are ill. Our students learned some basics crocheting skills and made their own crocheted squares which will be attached together to create a blanket. We look forward to seeing the completed project in the near future. New Academy Charter School – educating the mind and feeding the soul.

A group of volunteers from Bayer Corporation spent the Martin Luther King holiday at New Academy Charter School organizing, painting and touching up classrooms and other areas throughout the building.

Students at New Academy Charter school are working with the Hilltop Urban Farm on their service learning project. Through a fantastic partnership with the Talerico Group, New Academy Charter School has become the beneficiary of a one-year sponsorship for diapers and wipes to assist our students who are also parents. Sponsors from at least five states across the country responded to project coordinator, Holly McIlwain's request to purchase these supplies to be automatically sent to New Academy Charter School via Amazon. To date, New Academy Charter School parents have received more than 2,036 diapers and wipes.

Students at New Academy Charter School continued the "giving season" by volunteering at the Toys for Tots Warehouse where they helped make the holidays a little brighter for area children. They assisted non-profit organizations fill there vehicles with toy orders and sorted donated toys. The day was filled with a lot of hard work, smiles and tremendous satisfaction in knowing their efforts made others smile as well. #seasonofgiving

A group of Charter School students volunteered at the Good Samaritan Food Pantry this month. While there, they packed Christmas grocery bags with nonperishable food items, sorted toys, and filled toy orders. The students enjoyed participating in today’s project and appreciated the pizza lunch provided by the Food Pantry staff. Celebrating the true spirit of the holiday season…

Mrs. Herriott’s chemistry class is currently thinning out the radishes grown in the school’s Learning Garden. Students are looking forward to reaping the harvest that is expected from the outdoor garden in the next couple of weeks! Winter can’t stop the learning!!!
