A new group of New Outlook Academy students recently completed the Servsafe course which is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the National Restaurant Association. The program is accredited by ANSI and the Conference for Food Protection. Congratulations to these young ladies for expanding their career competencies. Being job-ready makes self-sufficiency a reality.
Two students from New Outlook Academy spoke at Moon Area School District's recent SADD meeting. Mariah K. and Alexandra B. spoke in great detail about their past experiences, current situations and future endeavors. Their presentation captivated the attention of 100 students and teachers in the audience. They also participated in question and answer session where they interacted with the students and provided additional advice and feedback. We are very proud of our young ladies for allowing their journey to inspire others.

New Outlook Academy recently hosted a visit from our local US Army recruiter. He came in for a question and answer session and discussed how to join the military. Some of the topics they discussed included specific job and ranks, qualifications to join and the difference between active duty and reserves. Whether their future goals include college, employment or the military, career development is a priority for every young lady at New Outlook!

Students at New Outlook Academy recently completed their First Aid/CPR certification through the American Heart Association. We are very proud of the 18 students who passed the test and can add this accomplishment to their employment portfolio. ♥️♥️
The latest creation in the New Outlook Academy STEAM lab will surely be a hit… cell phone stands!! The digital design and build was first completed on the laptop and then sent to the lab’s 3-D printer for production. New Outlook Academy recently held its Student Achievement Assembly. This event recognizes student accomplishments across many diverse activities. Students received awards for Honor Roll status, as well as outstanding participation in the STEAM Program and the Photography and Bakery classes. Additional recognition went to students who completed their GED, OSHA certification or college courses.
It was a great day to celebrate all the hard work and achievement of the young ladies of New Outlook Academy.
Each February the David L. Lawrence Convention Center hosts the Pittsburgh National College Fair. Representatives from over 225 two-year and four-year colleges, nursing, business and trade schools attended, as well as personnel from the various branches of the military. Our students enjoyed their time at the event learning about future educational and career opportunities. The skies the limit at New Outlook Academy.
