Summit Academy Career and Technical Training Program is proud to now offer the Valvoline Ignition Certification. The class covers the several important elements in the automotive repair industry including Motor Oil 101, Automotive Fluids 101 and Automotive Chemicals 101. Each class consists of a video, class discussion, a written exam and an online skills assessment. The students also demonstrate the techniques they have learned by performing an oil change and and industry standard 30 point inspection on a vehicle in our automotive repair shop. The remaining classes focus on career preparation, as well as classes in Resume Building, Interviewing 101 and People Skills 101. At the conclusion of the curriculum, students demonstrate the ability to dismantle and reassemble a 4 cylinder engine within one class period. Since starting the program in December, 15 students have completed and earned their certificate. Well done men!!!!

They may have not had the most points in the board but they left with class and respect. Kudos Keep battling boys you all are a great asset to the sport" — Laurel High School Wrestling Mom

Summit Academy students volunteered at the Allegheny Valley Association Churches Food Bank. This year, 345 families benefited from donations of food, clothing, toys and other items to make make their holidays special. Our students worked with families to bag food items, set up clothing booths and transport donations to the recipients' vehicles. Providing joy this season through the spirit of giving! Happy holidays from the Summit Academy family!!
Summit Academy is always happy to host campus visits as we recognize that collaboration is a critical key to continuous quality improvement. We sincerely appreciate the kind words from this Kern County, California Probation Officer, following his recent visit.
"Just want to send you this email thanking you and your staff for a great visit. You should be very proud of the program you are providing youth who have made some mistakes in life and are working to be better citizens upon their return to our communities. Programs like yours simply “Get It”. I left with only one regret: I do not live in PA, but if I did, it would be an absolute honor to work at Summit."
Thanks so much Robert and we look forward to continuing to do great work with Kern County youth!!!
Well deserved recognition for Coach Sherer from the Pittsburgh Coaches Corner and his former Coach Dan McCann. Congratulations Mr. Sherer… your school and your players will never forget you!
