New Outlook Academy recently held its annual Creative Expression Contest. Working from the 2020 JCJC Conference theme of "I Can See Change," students created posters and essays for the event. Displayed in our Training Center, staff members and faculty voted for their favorite creations. In addition, some projects have been selected for submission to the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges Commission Conference Poster and Essay Contests. All of the projects were incredibly inspiring and award-winning in our opinion. Congrats to all of our artists.
Summit Academy faculty and staff are extremely proud of the students who were named to the Honor Roll for the most recent grading period. We recognized 29 students who achieved honor roll, 24 who achieved high honors and 8 students who earned distinguished honors for attaining a 4.0 grade point average. Congratulations boys and keep up the good work!

WAKE UP WITH NEW OUTLOOK ACADEMY! Students at New Outlook Academy have recently created a morning announcement program that is viewed in all classrooms to start each school day. Students Montaea P. (Allegheny Co.) and Palace S. (Baltimore) are currently producing the segments that include updates on activities, staff and student interviews, motivational messages and other important information. All of our staff and students enjoy a positive message and usually a laugh to start each day. Have a great New Outlook Academy Day everyone!!!
EASTER FUN AT NEW OUTLOOK ACADEMY. Despite the impact of COVID-19 restrictions, the young ladies at New Outlook still found fun in participating in an egg hunt and the baskets they received over the holiday weekend. We all hope this is the LAST holiday that the virus impacts but the smiles and giggles sure did make things a lot better.
Students in Ms. Royal's Health and PE class are working on describing the relationship between health and wellness. They were asked to find various ways to describe the three categories of the health triangle (social health, physical health and mental/emotional health) proving the point that all aspects of our life and the world around us can be traced back to one of the three areas of health and well-being.

STRONGER THAN OUR CHALLENGES
Now more than ever, kids need to learn resiliency and self-reflection. Students in New Outlook Academy’s inpatient drug and alcohol program are focusing on those topics as they complete their final project and presentation. Everyone’s path to recovery looks a little different but they all include a plan for a bright, healthy and happy future.

BRING ON SOME SOCIALLY DISTANT FISHING
With the warm weather and an early start to trout season, some of the Summit boys enjoyed an afternoon at the pond. Not sure they had much luck on their lines but there are definitely worse ways to pass an afternoon. Just the start of a beautiful spring season on campus.
