12 RULES FOR LIFE: AN ANTIDOTE TO CHAOS The Summit Academy Book Club has selected this book by renowned Psychologist, Jordan B. Peterson as their current read. The work is based on 12 rules of life which are focused on the fundamental concept that each person must take responsibility for their own life. The book further asserts that in discovering the true extent of your own potential and resilience, mankind can thrive collectively. Students Khatrell M. and Hanif K. lead the book club along with Summit Academy teachers Riley Toy and Danielle Petras. There are currently 25 students participating in the book club. ART CLASS CONTEST FOCUSES ON PROPER MASK PROTOCOL New Outlook Academy Art Teacher, Ms. Aleksandrowicz, organized an art contest that challenged students to create signs for their classrooms and hallways to remind students, staff and guests that masks are still required in our building. The posters are currently on display in our Training Center where staff will vote on their favorite creations. All of the projects will be relocated throughout the building soon. Great job, ladies!!!

CHARTER SCHOOL BEAUTIFICATION PROJECTS

Teachers Ms. Kenney and Mr. Holderbaum along with New Academy Charter School students are working on beautifying the courtyard and repainting the exterior school steps. It is part of the community outreach elective that teaches students about the positive impact their contributions can have within the school and their communities.
We look forward to sharing future projects that this group will complete. Great job!!!

POSITIVE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

 

September’s “Caught Doing Something Good” raffle winner is Marcus. K. All students who earned goldfish points throughout the month of September were entered in a raffle to win a 43-inch Roku TV.
This program was funded through a grant opportunity intended to reward student attendance, participation and mentorship at school!
Looking forward to seeing who will win in October!!

College within the High School Program Prepares St…

College within the High School Program Prepares Students for Education and Life After Summit Academy Summit Academy students, enrolled in the Psychology 201 College within the High School course through Butler Community College, are studying the different fields of psychology. This semester’s course content also covered the history of psychology, research methods, how the brain and body function, sensation and perception, learning and memory. Group activities in the class also included an “orange brain” activity that involved a study of the parts of the brain. The following students are enrolled in the class: Beau A. Ezra B. Quamarri C.
