Summit Academy is proud to introduce its Summer Training Program in Fiber Optics—a fast-growing and high-demand field that uses light signals to transmit information through thin strands of glass or plastic.
In this intensive 3-month program participants will gain valuable hands-on experience while building the skills needed for in-demand careers, including:
• Telecommunications & Cell Tower Technician
• Systems Installer
• Fiber Optic Splicer
• Cable Lineman
Students who successfully complete the program will earn multiple industry-recognized certifications, providing a strong foundation for immediate employment and long-term career growth.
In addition, Summit Academy’s instructors maintain professional connections with leading companies such as Armstrong Cable, Verizon, and Comcast, helping to create pathways to interviews and employment opportunities.
With the demand for fiber optics professionals continuing to rise, this program reflects Summit Academy’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for successful, high-paying careers and brighter futures.
Our students had an unforgettable day at the ballpark thanks to the incredible generosity of Tickets for Kids! They were treated to amazing seats and an afternoon full of fun, learning, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Before the game, students enjoyed a special pre-game meet and hangout with Pirates staff. During the game, the excitement continued with a visit from the Pirate Parrot, and a special moment as Gemma M. and Montanna B. proudly held the finish line banner for the famous Pierogi Race!
New Outlook Academy even received a special shout-out during the game, making the day even more exciting and memorable for our students!
The experience didn’t stop there—students were also given an exclusive on-field tour by Pirates in-game host, Joe Klimchak, along with a look inside the control room. To top it all off, everyone enjoyed delicious ice cream sundaes to end the day on a sweet note!
We are so grateful for our continued partnership with Tickets for Kids and the Pittsburgh Pirates for creating such meaningful and memorable experiences for our students.
An action-packed week of Summit Academy athletics is here, and our Baseball and Volleyball teams are ready to bring the energy! Come out, get loud, and show your Knight pride as our athletes hit the field and the court!

Summit Academy welding Instructor Brady Kirkwood is proud to announce that five students successfully passed their AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code—Steel certification tests.
The American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 standard governs welding requirements for steel structures and is widely recognized throughout the industry.
Evan B., Jackson M., and Brian S. each earned their 1G certification, demonstrating proficiency in flat position groove welds.
Additionally, Kase M. and Izayah M. earned their second welding certification through our welding program by successfully completing the AWS 2G horizontal groove weld certification. This qualification expands their skills to include both flat (1G/1F) and horizontal (2G/2F) welding positions under the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
These certifications represent an important step toward a valuable trade skill set that will serve these students well in their future careers.
New Outlook Academy’s annual “Hanging with Our Peeps” Art Show was once again a huge success! Each year, our students bring creativity to life using marshmallow Peeps, and this year’s displays were some of the most imaginative and colorful yet.
From unique designs to eye-catching color combinations, our students put in a tremendous amount of effort and creativity to make their visions come to life. Their hard work truly showed in every piece on display!
One of the most exciting parts of the event is that both students and staff get to participate by voting for their favorite designs, making it a fun and engaging experience for our entire school community.
Their imagination and dedication make this event special each year, and we are excited to see what they create next.
